When Do I Need a Referral?
You need a referral to get some of the services ordered by your doctor. You can get these services only when your doctor gives you a referral or when you use a provider who is approved by Gateway Health Plan®.
You need a referral to:
· See a specialist;
· Have special outpatient tests at a hospital, such as bone scans, sleep studies and ultrasound services;
· Have lab tests other than at your assigned lab;
· Have radiation or chemotherapy.
