Gateway Health Plan® to Withdraw From 17 Voluntary Counties Serving the Medicaid Population on September 30, 2010
– Withdrawal Will Not Affect Gateway’s Medicare Assured® or HealthChoices Medical Assistance Members –
Gateway Health Plan® has notified the PA Department of Public Welfare (DPW) that effective September 30, 2010, it will withdraw its Medicaid product from 17 counties in DPW’s Voluntary Managed Care Program.
This is a partial withdrawal from the Voluntary Program that will not affect Gateway Health Plan’s Medicare Assured® HMO product or Gateway’s HealthChoices product.
The withdrawal will affect approximately 14,500 current Gateway Health Plan members in the following counties:
- Cambria
- Carbon
- Clarion
- Columbia
- Franklin
- Jefferson
- Lackawanna
- Luzerne
- Mercer
- Monroe
- Montour
- Northumberland
- Pike
- Schuylkill
- Somerset
- Susquehanna
- Wyoming
Gateway Health Plan will continue its Medicaid business in the following 22 HealthChoices and Voluntary counties:

- Armstrong
- Beaver
- Berks
- Blair
- Butler
- Cumberland
- Dauphin
- Erie
- Fayette
- Greene
- Indiana
- Lancaster
- Lawrence
- Lebanon
- Lehigh
- Northampton
