COVID-19 Vaccine Updates

COVID-19 Vaccine: Finding a Provider, Booster Shot Updates and Education

We hope that you are staying healthy and safe. Gateway Health is reaching out with updates about the COVID-19 vaccine.

The COVID-19 vaccines are safe – much safer than getting COVID-19. The vaccines are also effective at preventing severe illness from COVID-19 and limiting the spread of the virus that causes it. This is according to the CDC.

Bottom Line: They are an important tool to help stop the COVID-19 pandemic.

Learn more about vaccine safety from the CDC here.

All Pennsylvania adults are eligible to be vaccinated. So are adolescents ages 12-17.

If you have not yet received a vaccination, we have a dose ready for you. It is critical that as many people as possible get vaccinated. The vaccine is free. You will not pay any out of pocket costs.

Some vaccines require two doses. Don’t forget your second dose, if required!

(!) Updates Regarding Booster Shots for At-Risk Individuals
A booster shot may also be recommended if you have completed the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine series.

COVID-19 vaccine booster shots are recommended for select groups who received the completed Pfizer vaccine series. Booster shots are now available for the following Pfizer vaccine recipients who received their second dose at least 6 months ago:

  • 65 years and older
  • 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
  • 18+ who work in high-risk settings
  • 18+ who live in high-risk settings

Check with your doctor to see if a booster shot is right for you at this time.
